Laura Linney is an American actor who has become well-known for her performance of powerful but fragile characters. Born to a famous playwright's father, and was raised by a single mom who worked by working as a nurse. She was drawn to theatre when having summers spent with her father and eventually pursuing a degree in acting initially as a student at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Starting her acting career on the Broadway following her graduation, she made her debut in films within two years, and then on television within a year. Since then, she has performed in many films and stage and television productions. There have been numerous awards throughout her career. This includes 4 Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards as well as three Oscar Award nominations. However, despite her awards and accolades, the theater is her main interest and she'll continue to perform on the stage and on screen.
